HILLARY, IT IS TIME TO GO

Though I've belted you and flayed you,
By the livin' Gawd that made you,
You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!

“Craig steps down from top committee posts”- Headline, Politico.com

I applaud this move by Senator Craig, it is the least he can do having pled guilty to “disorderly conduct” (even though he now says he shouldn’t have) in the sexual solicitation scandal that he has become famous for;

“Craig stepped down as the ranking Republican on the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee and on two subcommittees - one on appropriations and another on energy and natural resources.”- Politico.com

His fellow Republicans are calling for further actions, asking him to resign entirely from the senate;

“fellow Republicans called for his ( Senator Craig’s) resignation….Several Republicans called for Mr. Craig to resign, among them Senators John McCain of Arizona and Norm Coleman of Minnesota and Representative Peter Hoekstra of Michigan…Mr. Coleman issued a statement saying Mr. Craig had pleaded guilty to “a crime involving conduct unbecoming a senator,” adding, “He should resign.”- The New York Times

I now challenge the Democrats to do the same with Senator Hillary Clinton. She is giving back money raised by Mr. Hsu;

“Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign said yesterday that it would give to charity $23,000 it had received from a prominent Democratic donor, and review thousands of dollars more that he had raised, after learning that the authorities in California had a warrant for his arrest stemming from a 1991 fraud case.”- New York Times

Mr. Hsu is a convicted felon who failed to show for his sentencing for grand theft fifteen years ago and has since then raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Democrats, including Mrs. Clinton. Fortunately for Mrs. Clinton, the Craig story, which by the way is really three months old but only made it into the main stream press as the Hillary- Hsu connection also came to light, broke on the same week end this story did. What good timing, kind of reminds me of the time Bill Clinton bombed the aspirin factory the same week that big news on the Monica story broke.

So where is the outcry from other Democrats and the main stream media? Will she be asked to step down from committees she is on and will she resign? Not bloody likely. Quite a double standard and just one of the hundreds of examples of the hypocrisies of the left and the left winged biased media.

The Right will force guys like Foley and Craig to resign because they hate hypocrisy. The Democrats are walking, breathing, living examples of hypocrisy and that is why conservatives generally dislike them.

John Edwards’s calls for Americans to give up their SUV’s and then drives off in his own Escalade. Al Gore screams about global warming and carbon footprints but has an energy hog of a house and flies in private jets (meanwhile a company he is heavily involved in is selling carbon credits). Barney Frank had a male prostitution ring run from his Washington home and has been in the House with very little repercussions. Ted Kennedy killed a girl and is a prominent Senator. The list goes on and on; William Jefferson, Democrat from Louisiana, caught taking bribes and with $90,000.00 in cash in his freezer, Senator Byrd of West Virginia is a former KKK member, need I continue?

We are continually reminded by the main stream press about Nixon and Watergate, Trent Lott and his comments about Strom Thurmond, and Foley and his gay emails. When is the last time you heard anything on any main stream media about any of the Democrat’s peccadilloes?

The Democrats run the House and Senate and have called for the end of the “culture of corruption”. They talk the talk but it is more mindless blabbering to their kool-aid drinking zombies. Do you wonder why both houses of congress only have an eighteen percent approval rating? The republican haven’t done a lot right but at least their standards are higher and they hold their people to them. I call for the Democrats to do the same with Hillary the first to go. If she can’t keep track of who is giving her money, how can she possibly run a country?

HOW MANY CHINAMEN DOES IT TAKE TO ELECT A CLINTON?

For two days the two lead stories every hour on the radio from CNN and CBS have been the Gonzales resignation and the Senator Craig scandal. The Gonzales story allows those on the left a great opportunity for sound bites about how corrupt the Bush administration is and how everyone is abandoning a scandal riddled President. Senator Craig wanted a little man love in the men’s room and now he is the poster child for hypocritical conservatives. In the scheme of things, neither story is worth more then a tag line for the democrats but the media deems them both worthy of endless coverage so it will continue to tell the stories.

One story I haven’t heard at all on any news media outlet is the one about Hillary and the strange donations she has been receiving. I noticed it first on the Drudge report and then later in the day it was mentioned on a talk radio show, but not once was any light shed on it in any news report. And so, in an effort to enlighten those unable to search news outlets for “the rest of the story”, here is what Mrs. Clinton has been up to;

The story tells of a family of Asian immigrants who have been donating substantial amounts of money to Hillary as well as other democrats. They live in a modest green bungalow….

“that lies under the flight path from San Francisco International Airport. Six members of the Paw family, each listing the house at 41 Shelbourne Ave. as their residence, have donated a combined $45,000 to the Democratic senator from New York since 2005, for her presidential campaign, her Senate re-election last year and her political action committee. In all, the six Paws have donated a total of $200,000 to Democratic candidates since 2005, election records show.”- Wall Street Journal

What is interesting is the Paw family history. They all received their social security cards in California in 1982. Since then their voting records have been “sporadic”,

“No one in the Paw family had ever given a campaign contribution before the 2004 presidential election, according to campaign-finance reports. Then, in July 2004, five members of the family contributed a total of $3,600 to the presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry, the Massachusetts Democrat.”- Wall Street Journal

OK, so perhaps they suddenly saw the light as a family and decided they had to try to change the world, to make it a better place and that giving oodles of loot to democrats was the way to do it. Maybe it was over a sizzling plate of General Tsu’s chicken with a side of steamed dumplings. But it must have been from the Wok Inn and not PF Chang’s because the Paws don’t seem to be of extravagant means;

“It isn't obvious how the Paw family is able to afford such political largess. Records show they own a gift shop and live in a 1,280-square-foot house that they recently refinanced for $270,000. William Paw, the 64-year-old head of the household, is a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service who earns about $49,000 a year, according to a union representative. Alice Paw, also 64, is a homemaker. The couple's grown children have jobs ranging from account manager at a software company to "attendance liaison" at a local public high school.”- Wall Street Journal

Or maybe the Paws were merely trying to mirror the actions of another American of Asian ancestry, a Mr. Norman Hsu;

“The Paws' political donations closely track donations made by Norman Hsu, a wealthy New York businessman in the apparel industry who once listed the Paw home as his address, according to public records. Mr. Hsu is one of the top fund-raisers for Mrs. Clinton's presidential campaign. He has hosted or co-hosted some of her most prominent money-raising events.”- Wall Street Journal

You see, the federal election laws drastically limit the amounts an individual can contribute to candidates and political parties;

“For the 2008 election, individuals can donate a maximum of $4,600 per candidate -- $2,300 for a primary election and $2,300 for a general election -- and a total of $108,200 per election to all federal candidates and national political parties.”- Wall Street Journal

It all seems confusing, maybe too confusing for news people because they won’t report any of it. But what is clear is that there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that makes it appears there could possibly be some shenanigans going on with the Paws, Hsu and possibly others;

“The Paw family is just one set of donors whose political donations are similar to Mr. Hsu's. Several business associates of Mr. Hsu in New York have made donations to the same candidates, on the same dates for similar amounts as Mr. Hsu………….. On four separate dates this year, the Paw family, Mr. Hsu and five of his associates gave Mrs. Clinton a total of $47,500. In all, the family, Mr. Hsu and his associates have given Mrs. Clinton $133,000 since 2005 and a total of nearly $720,000 to all Democratic candidates.”- Wall Street Journal

Does any of this sound familiar? Do you remember the Buddhist monks and their vast donations to Al Gore? How about the Chinese connection to contributions to Bill Clinton’s campaign? Perhaps the soliciting of sexual favors in the men’s room is a little easier for the members of the main stream press to understand so that’s what they report.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out; the Clinton’s are good at muddying the waters and playing the victim whenever any accusations of impropriety are insinuated and directed at them. But this time they won’t be able to blame a vast right wing conspiracy if more facts come to light that implicate them in any illegalities because the Republicans aren’t running against them yet, it is all other Democrats….stay tuned, the silence will be deafening.

SICK HEALTH CARE AND RICH POOR PEOPLE

Though I've belted you and flayed you,
By the livin' Gawd that made you,
You’re a better man than I am, Gunga Din!

The Democrats want to push comprehensive medical insurance forward as a campaign issue for 2008. I have heard this many times before and most likely anyone elected would never get anything done about it anyways, but it is a good issue for sound bites and it keeps the socialist’s hopes for more government freebies alive. Recently we have heard about the “huge” poverty issue in today’s America; this is tied into the medical insurance “crisis”. So, how big is poverty in America?

The following are facts about persons defined as "poor" by the Census Bureau, taken from various government reports:

Forty-six percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.

Seventy-six percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, 30 years ago, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.

Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than two-thirds have more than two rooms per person.

The average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)

Nearly three-quarters of poor households own a car; 30 percent own two or more cars.

Ninety-seven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.

Seventy-eight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.

Seventy-three percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and a third have an automatic dishwasher.”- The Heritage Foundation.

The poverty issue is merely a diversion from the real problems that plague our nation and a smoke screen used to cover the fact that they have no answers for these problems.
So, what about health insurance?

“Nearly 47 million Americans, or 16 percent of the population, were without health insurance in 2005, the latest government data available”- The National Coalition on Health Care

The Democrats say health care is a “right” but where in the Constitution is that right put forth? No where. There isn’t even the slightest hint or the merest mention of it anywhere in there. Has any politician of any ilk addressed the real issue of health care which by the way, isn’t insurance, but the entire system that is too confusing, to expensive and out of control? Nope, their ideas range from laws mandating people buy insurance to total government control of the health care system.

What needs to happen is a return to commonsense. First, capitalism and competition are the only two things that will make health care manageable and affordable. Laws need to be passed to keep the malpractice insurance affordable for doctors. Tort reform limiting the amount a doctor can be sued for would start the process.

Here is an example of a system that would help solve the problem;

Any doctor that treated a patient and billed them less then $1000.00 could only be sued for five-thousand dollars. This would encourage the doctors to keep their prices lower and would lower their insurance premiums. Health insurance would only pay for bills higher than one thousand dollars but that would also make the doctor more liable in a civil case. Still, there needs to be a ceiling for all malpractice suits for all damages.

Doctors need to be encouraged to treat patients rather then just refer them. Because a person has an ear ache it doesn’t mean they have to see an ear specialist. The doctors that treat patients and save them money by not just pushing that patient to some other doctor will be more desired as a physician thus encouraging competition. People will seek the best doctor at the lowest price if they are forced to personally pay the costs up to one thousand dollars. If a physician doesn’t have to worry about being sued to the extent of losing everything, he will be more willing to actually treat a patient.

There should be a system in place for the neediest of Americans who are unable to pay for medical care but this can’t become a huge government give-away that will spiral out of control and cause inflation in medical bills. Another government bureaucracy controlling health care would be a disaster. Less government involvement rather then more is the solution. Do you want the same people who work at the department of motor vehicles running your health care?

More personal responsibility for ones health care costs, lower insurance premiums for both the patients and the doctors and common sense in dealing with treatments would repair a medical system that is superior to any other in the world but far too costly. Now all we have to do is get past the insurance lobbyists, the tort lawyer lobbyists and the greedy politicians willing to take donations from anyone with enough money and we can fix this system.
